It seems like the Gujarat government was serious regarding banning the popular PUBG game in the state! Since the arrest of 10 students in Rajkot last week, eight more people have been arrested for playing the game.
Among the new eight, seven are students and have been booked under Sections 188 and 35 of the Indian Penal Code.
To recall, 10 students who were caught playing PUBG were booked under the aforementioned sections.
Even though the arrested were released on bail the same day, their smartphones were confiscated to conduct further inquiries.
For the uninitiated, Police Commissioner Manoj Agrawal, via a notice on March 6, imposed a ban on battle royale game PUBG in western Gujarat.
In addition to this, a new report suggests that two men (Nagesh Gore and Swapnil Annapurne) were hit by a train in Hingoli district in Maharashtra, while they were fully absorbed in playing PUBG.
The incident took place at Khatkali Bypass in Hingoli and their bodies were later discovered at night by people living nearby.
In addition to the ill-fate of PUBG, a report states that the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has requested MeitY (Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology) to take strict actions against the game.
Responding to a series of ban requests and arrests, PUBG said that it is still evaluating the ban and will request the authorities in India to remove the ban by explaining the game’s objectives.
From arrests to deaths to stealing money, users playing PUBG have experienced it all, putting the game’s fate in question.
