The hacker was arrested and charged with hacking the official website of the Ang Mo Kio town council – a district whose team of MPs representing it in parliament is led by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong – on October 28, and posting the image of a Guy Fawkes mask.
The site was hacked 5 days ago, left with an Anonymous logo and a message for the government of Singapore against new Internet laws.
In an other incident, Singaporean police has questioned 5 local citizens between the age of 17 and 45 for allegedly hacking the official website of Singapore’s prime minister a week ago.
Government of Singapore implemented new Internet licensing rules in June 2013, sparking massive critic and anger among online community and bloggers; calling it an attempt to sideline online voice and freedom of expression.
