Anonymous Targets Belgian Government, Knocks Prime Minister’s Website Off

The online hacktivist group Anonymous Belgian conducted a series of DDoS attacks on the official website of Belgian Prime Minister Charles Michel, the Brussels parliament and the website of Federal Public Services Home Affairs this Sunday.

The attack was conducted under the banner #OpGuerilla.

Anonymous took the accomplishment to Twitter, announcing that the group has targeted the Belgian government against alleged censorship and corruption.

The spokesperson at Demorgen confirmed that the Federal Public Services Home Affairs (ibz.fgov.be) was under attack on 11th October 2015 while the Belgium’s English language website Flanders confirmed that the official website of Belgian Prime Minister Charles Michel (premier.be) and Brussels parliament (parlbruparl.irisnet.be) both were down for a short period of time.

In a YouTube video, Anonymous went into detail about targeting Belgian sites and operation #OpGuerilla:

The Belgian government challenged us. They should now take responsibility for their mistakes. We will always be here to defend the people.”
