TikTok Developer Is Making A ‘Smartphone’, So People Can TikTok More

TikTok is currently one of the most popular social media video apps where millions of users have tried to showcase their talent. Now, the popular app’s parent company seems to be all geared up to enter the smartphone segment, trying to become more popular.

According to a report by Reuters, TikTok’s developer ByteDance is in talks with Chinese smartphone maker Smartisan to develop its own smartphone.

ByteDance And Smartisan Collab

It is suggested that the smartphone project between both companies has been in the works for seven months, which was initially Smartisan’s standalone plan.

Additionally, ByteDance has acquired a couple of patents from Smartisan and a few Smartisan employees have moved to ByteDance, suggesting the work is going on in full force.

For those who don’t know, Smartisan is a relatively smaller Chinese smartphone company, which has manufactured lesser-known smartphones such as Smartisan T1, back in 2014.

What Could The Smartphone Be Like?

The partnership between Smartisan and ByteDance would mark the latter’s entry into the smartphone business. This will help it move in a direction other than videos and apps, adding onto its popularity.

If at all the smartphone wager proves to be successful, it could help ByteDance clear its image that the company lost due to the alleged promotion of nudity via the TikTok app.

As I don’t know much about the ByteDance-developed smartphone, I am assuming it will focus more on the millennials and try to make it a mid-ranger.

You need to wait for more information to surface. Hence, stay tuned to Fossbytes to find out more.
