Is ISIS Behind BBC’s ‘Operational error’ that Interrupted its Broadcast and Left presenter flustered?
Supposedly, BBC News Channel fell prey to a cyber-attack from ISIS when ‘hackers’ were able to interrupt the channel’s live broadcast and upload propaganda material of Islamic State.
The appearance of the words “Je suIS IS” on TV Screens left viewers stunned while they were watching the BBC News Channel on Thursday, April 9th, 2015.
This happened during live transmission when a feature on BBC Channel was being broadcast and the red and white logo of the channel suddenly got replaced with the word “CYBRERCALIPHATE.”
Clive Myrie, the flustered newscaster, had to address the replacement of content during live transmission and said: “I do apologize, we seem to have lost our report from James Robbins, erm… stay with us.”
The incident occurred right after 8.07PM and left the producers to upload the next programme.

The same day the hack of TV5Monde television network also happened.
The BBC stated that this attack was different from the French channel’s hack because it was an “Operational Error” that led to the confusion and transmission interruption.
According to a spokesperson of BBC: “This was an operational error in which a graphics being used in BBC reports about the French cyber-attack was broadcast briefly by mistake during another item.”
However, viewers aren’t convinced and poured out their concerns on the microblogging website Twitter. One confused viewer posted: “Did BBC news just get hacked live on air? By #CyberCaliphate?”
Whereas one viewer was almost certain about the hack and posted: “BBC news hacked by ISIS?”
French television network TV5Monde also witnessed a three-hour transmission blackout caused by hackers and also took control of the Facebook page and website of the channel.
The hackers also managed to post supposed photographs and identity cards of French soldiers’ relatives who participated in military action against the extremist militant organization Islamic State in Syria and Iraq/ISIS as well as some threats.
Fleur Pellerin, the cultural minister of France called the management of all prominent French TV networks, Agence France-Presse news agency, and other newspapers to collaborate in order to solve the crisis.
