Acumos: The Linux Foundation’s New Open Source Project Brings AI’s Power To Any Developer

The power of open source enables the developers belonging to any part of the world to access tools needed for their work and create something new. To make similar strides in the field of Artificial Intelligence, The Linux Foundation has introduced the Acumos Project.

The founding organizations of Acumos Project are AT&T and Tech Mahindra. In the upcoming weeks, more companies are expected to become a part of the project when it establishes its governance model. The project is expected to be launched in early 2018.

Acumos Project aims to make artificial intelligence available to everyone with the help of a common framework/platform for free exchange of machine learning tools.

Unlike TensorFlow framework, which is used to create machine learning models, Acumos will be a directory for searching/sharing AI models as well as a system for working on those models.

The Linux Foundation also aims to create an industry standard for making AI applications easily accessible to any developer. This will be done by making Acumos platform user-centric.

“An open and connected AI platform will promote collaboration as developers and companies look to define the future of AI,” said Jim Zemlin, Executive Director at The Linux Foundation.
