Short Bytes: An unofficial Android Nougat port has been released by an Android developer named Peter Yoon. The port is available for the credit card-sized single board computer Raspberry Pi 3. You can check the source code on Peter’s Github page and try out Android 7.0 on your Raspberry Pi right away.
This development does induce a feeling of satisfaction when many of the Snapdragon-powered devices have been kicked out of the update lists by their makers. Also, keeping the speculations aside, any official Android support for the Raspberry Pi isn’t foreseeable in the near future.
Various Linux-based distros are available for the Pi along with the Windows 10 IoT Core. This port, for which the source code is available on Github, is made by Peyo-hd (Peter Yoon). It looks like we have something newer to play with.
We got a new Raspberry Pi 3 delivered a few days back and we would love to install the unofficial port on the tiny machine. Hopefully, we don’t break it in the process.
