Short Bytes: Razer founder and CEO Min-Liang Tan has announced that Razer is soon going to support Linux distros on its Razer Blade laptop series officially. To welcome the suggestions from the community, Razer has created a new Linux Corner hub. In a Facebook post, Tan revealed that their work would start with making sure that all the drivers are working and properly optimized.
At CES 2017, gaming hardware maker Razer made headlines with its crazy Project Valerie, the triple screen laptop concept. Now, the company’s founder and CEO Min-Liang Tan has announced that the firm is planning to support Linux on its Razer Blade laptop lineup.
In a post on Razer Insider, Tan told that the support for Linux-based operating systems is one of the most commonly made requests on online forums.
It isn’t the fact that Linux doesn’t run at all on Razer Blade machines. Up until now, Razer hasn’t provided official support for their products running Linux. With this promised change, Razer wants to bring the best-in-class Linux experience.
To accept suggestions and opinions from the Linux community, Razer has created Linux Corner, a dedicated forum on the Razer Insider website.
Tan also shared the announcement via a Facebook post, in which he expressed the desire to make Razer Blade “the best notebook in the world that supports Linux.”
Further, Tan outlined the priorities in a comment on the post. He said that Razer would start with “making all the drivers work well, ensuring they’re optimized, etc, ensuring that all the popular distributions are evaluated etc.”
