This Futuristic Massage Center Uses Virtual Reality For “Immersive Relaxation”

One of the perks of having virtual reality in our hands is we can go places without spending much and experience the world in 3D. We have also seen VR browsers like Firefox Reality.

Why not use the technology for stress relief and reducing body ache? At least this new virtual reality massage center has such plans.

Yes, you heard that correctly. This futuristic place called Esqapes Immersive Relaxation Center is going to open in Los Angeles, California. It would be a lot different than the traditional massage facilities where you’re attended by some masseur or masseuse.

Eqapes will let you sit on an automated massage chair wearing a VR headset where you’ll be able to choose between 10 different environments. For example, you can choose to transport yourself to a sunset beach or a snowbank cabin, or peace yourself in a Koi pond.

Each session would last for around 30 minutes but it’s still not known whether you’d be able to switch between environments or not. Also, to sit on the massage chair, you need to be 18 years or older.

Esqapes says it uses a combination of proprietary software, automated massage programs and virtual reality hardware to offer total relaxation. It compares the service to a ‘mini vacation‘ offered at a fraction of the actual cost.
