In an announcement post, the GNOME Foundation said that they’ll be providing their endorsement and support to build the Librem 5. For those who don’t know, Purism is currently running a crowdfunding campaign for Librem 5, which has already secured about half a million dollars.
Librem 5, an open source device, also focuses heavily on security with the help of end-to-end encryption for calling, email, and messaging, etc. The device will ship in a 5″ form factor with high-resolution screen.

With the help of this partnership, GNOME Foundation is looking to push Librem 5 as a GNOME/GTK device. As a result, the Foundation will help Purism create hackfests, tools, emulators, and generate awareness regarding “GNOME on Librem 5.”
