Extratorrent.CC Shuts Down Forever, You Can Still Use These Five Alternatives

Update (May 23, 6:41 pm IST): It looks like Extratorrent has been brought back online by some die-hard fans. Read this new story to know more.

In an unexpected move, the popular torrent website which goes by the name Extratorrent has shut down. The website was suffering from downtime errors since the last few days, it now displays the following message which warns users about imposters and Extratorrent clones that might appear in the coming future.

“ExtraTorrent with all mirrors goes offline.. We permanently erase all data. Stay away from fake ExtraTorrent websites and clones.”

“Thx to all ET supporters and torrent community. ET was a place to be….”

There is no security agency involved in the termination, like in the case of KickAss Torrents. It’s evident from the message that the operators of Extratorrent aren’t planning a comeback in the future.

An Extratorrent operator SaM confirmed the decision to TorrentFreak. He also confirmed that the Extratorrent’s release group ETRG will also be saying goodbye to the torrent community. “Ettv and Ethd could remain operational if they get enough donations to sustain the expenses and if they people handling it ready to keep going,” he told TF.

The demise of Extratorrent follows the list of other dead websites including Torrentz.eu, What.cd, etc.
