Lenovo S940 Laptop Yoga Series With AI Blur Launched At Rs 1.25 Lakh

Lenovo S940 Laptop Yoga Series has been launched in India at a base price of Rs 1.25 lakh. The ‘S’ series in the Lenovo Yoga laptop series stands for ‘Slim’.

The new range of premium laptops has been launched in the premium segment. Thus this laptop will be competing against the other premium level notebooks including the Macbook Air, Razer Blade Stealth and several others.

So how does the Lenovo S940 Yoga Series laptop fares against these laptops? Let us take a look to get a first impression of the laptop.

Lenovo S940 Yoga Series Laptop Design

Lenovo S940 comes in a slim form factor and is an ultra-light and thin machine. It has a weight of around 1.2 kg which is quite easy to handle.

The S940 Yoga series laptop has a 14″ 4K screen with HDR and super thin bezels. The laptop has a contoured screen around the edges which adds a level of immersion to the display.

The laptop is made out of aluminum which makes it sturdy and upon initial impressions, the hinge felt sturdy enough.

The speakers are placed near the keyboard. There is no fingerprint scanner on the keyboard, instead, it has been replaced by facial recognition.

After initial typing impressions, I can tell that the keys have decent travel. It is too early to comment on the real typing experience on Lenovo S940 so I’ll hold my review until I get a review unit.

What is disappointing, though, is the lack of backlit switches. I mean at this price, backlit switches should be the default.

Overall, the Lenovo S940 seems like a well built, sturdy and premium laptop upon initial impressions. Now, let’s talk about specs and hardware.

Lenovo S940 Yoga Series Laptop Specs And Hardware

Lenovo S940 Yoga Series laptops are powered by Intel 8th generation processors. There are several options available for the Intel chips and users can customize the laptop according to their needs. The starting range of Intel Processors include the Intel Core i5-8265U and the range goes all the way up to Core i7-8565U.

The base model comes with 8GB of DDR3 RAM, 256GB SSD, and Windows 10 Home edition. The RAM, storage and the processor can be customized according to user’s need.

In terms of I/O, the S940 Yoga laptop comes with three USB Type-C ports that double up as Thunderbolt 3 port. Lenovo was generous enough to give us a headphone jack.

Despite using a laptop with 8th generation Intel processors, Lenovo claims that the S940 has up to 15 hours of battery life. The upcoming Intel Athena series of laptops surely has such long battery life, but Lenovo has avoided them to keep the cost in check.

The laptop comes with Dolby Atmos speakers which have great sound quality. However, there is no optical drive in the laptop.

The display of the laptop is a 4K unit with 500 nits of brightness. The webcam of the laptop features an IR HD camera with AI tracking enabled motion blur.

What it means is that before turning on the laptop camera it scans your image to project a blurry background when you actually use it. Lenovo has used a special software to enable this feature.

Lenovo S940 First Impressions Review

The Lenovo S940 Yoga series laptop has a great build quality, immersive screen, and a great keyboard. The lack of backlit switches and 8th generation processors seems kind of annoying but we’ll reserve our judgment until we get our hands on the actual review unit.
