A California-based man who has been selling drugs on the Dark Web in exchange for Bitcoins has been sentenced to ten years in prison.
The verdict, announced by United States District Judge James V. Selna, also includes a fine of $15,000 which has to be paid by Reeves.
Tyler Reeves, who is 29, has been selling drugs such as painkillers, stimulants and sedatives, as well as methamphetamine under the name Platinum45.
Reeves was among the top five drug-peddlers on the Dark Web and had around 300 customers worldwide.
While conducting a search warrant in Reeves’ house in September, police found 13 un-serialized firearms and 14 un-serialized silencers, along with methamphetamine and oxycodone. Additionally, extensive computing equipment, a Trezor hardware wallet (used to store cryptocurrency), and gold and silver bars were also discovered.
Furthermore, the bitcoins Reeves received from his customers were later on converted into fiat U.S. money.
