PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds or popularly known as PUBG, is a famous battle royale game, that has faced severe criticism in India to the extent that the government imposed a ban on the game in a few states. The ban seems just as another boy has died because of the game.
A 16-year-old boy in Madhya Pradesh has died of cardiac arrest after playing PUBG for a straight six hours. Furqan Qureshi, a 12th standard student, lost his life because of the sudden adrenaline rush caused by the game.
He was rushed to hospital after he started shouting “Blast it… blast it.” Fiza, his sister who was in the same room during the incident, said she heard Furqan screaming “Ayan, you got me killed and made me lose the game. I won’t play with you again.”
After a few moments, he complained of a severe headache and collapsed on the bed.
The doctor who was treating him said, “The death was caused possibly by severe cardiac arrest triggered by sudden, but deep shock. It’s possible that since the teenager had been playing the game for long hours at a stretch, he could have delved into some kind of syndrome from which it was difficult to come out.”
The deceased’s father said he did scold Furqan for playing PUBG for long hours but he continued playing despite the scolding.
PUBG has already been banned in Nepal and Iraq because of its effects on players’ mental health.
