If you have ever switched to the dark mode in the Twitter Android app, you must have seen that it is not “dark” dark; it is actually dark blue. A user on Twitter raised the same issue and Jack Dorsey, Twitter CEO, replied by saying that it will soon be fixed and a true dark mode is coming to the Android app.
Twitter launched its “Night Mode” in 2016 but the blueish color of the mode doesn’t save battery, and neither helps in making it comfortable for eyes when browsing the feed for longer durations.
We can soon expect an even darker dark mode in the Android app of the social media platform. It would actually turn off the bright pixels in your smartphone’s display, thus conserving battery and causing less strain to your eyes while using the app at night.

2018 was the year of dark mode as many apps started featuring dark mode or night mode. We saw Reddit, Youtube and Android Messaging apps get dark mode. Apple also launched macOS Mojave with a native dark mode. A leaked code has indicated that the next Android version, Android Q, will also have a system-wide dark mode.
With smartphone manufacturers turning to OLED displays from LCD, dark mode is the need of the hour to pacify the bright pixels.
