Amazon Prime Video Channels Services To Arrive Soon In India

In addition to Amazon Prime Video and Prime Music, e-commerce company Amazon is now expected to introduce its Prime Video Channels service in India, exclusively for Amazon Prime users.

According to a report by Television Post, to bring the service to India, Amazon is also looking for a country head to lead the venture in the country.

For the uninitiated, the Amazon Video Channels service, allows users to access various TV channels of third-party premium networks as paid monthly subscriptions add-on, in addition to the existing online content on the platform.

The various TV channels include HBO, Showtime, Eurosport and Starz and more, and will be added to the Amazon Prime user’s account with an extra cost. This service is currently available in the US, Germany, UK, and Japan where it was launched in the year 2015, 2017 and 2018 respectively.

It is further suggested that the Video Channels service won’t require users to buy a standalone bundle for the TV channels as individual subscriptions for different channels will be made available.

However, there is no word on the pricing for each channel in India.

With most users (including me) preferring online content over the ones available on TV, the introduction of the Amazon Prime Video Channels can affect the DTH business significantly.
