Apple Rumoured To Launch 7th-Gen iPod Touch Soon

iPod is undoubtedly one of the most successful products that Apple ever launched. However, the popular portable media player has not been refreshed by the Cupertino giant for more than four years. There are rumors that iPod Touch 7th-Generation might be launched soon.

Several suppliers told website MacOtakara, the Japanese Apple-news centric website, at CES 2019 that 7th-Generation iPod Touch is currently under development phase and would be launched this year to replace 6th-Gen iPod Touch that was released in July 2015.

The sixth-generation iPod Touch was updated with powerful A8 chip and 128GB storage option in 2017 and can be purchased for $199 for the 32GB storage and $299 for the 128GB variant.

Not much information is available about the specifications and launch date as of now. Apple discontinued iPod Shuffle and iPod Nano in 2017 but said nothing about iPod Touch. Apple’s plans regarding its iPod family of products are unclear. It is likely that the iPhone maker could add features like improved camera and faster A-series chips in the upcoming version.

Another rumor that has risen from the MacOtakara’s reports is Apple’s switch to USB-C in 2019. The report suggests that 2019 iPhones could feature USB Type-C instead of the company’s proprietary Lightning port.

It has been speculated for years that Type C could make way in the iPhones, but now that 2018 iPad Pro models have been launched with Type-C instead of lightning, the rumors seem all the more convincing.
