Apple is expected to announce a slew of services including its video streaming service, as compensation for dipping iPhone sales at an event scheduled for today. Prior to the launch event, prices for some of its services have been leaked by WSJ, hinting at the money we might have to shed to get hold of them.
Apple is expected to unveil its video streaming platform, along with a news service combined with TV and music services.
Apple’s News Subscription Service
The news subscription service is likely to start at $9.99 per month. Additionally, services are expected to be free for iPhone users. Users will be able to access content from publishers that usually hide their content behind a paywall. It has been reported that Apple has collaborated with the Wall Street Journal and the Cupertino giant has already bought Texture – an app that charges a monthly fee from users for reading popular print magazines.
Apple’s Video Streaming Service
As a reminder, Apple is expected to introduce an umbrella video streaming service which will showcase other video platforms’ content on it as well as the company’s original content and eventually earn from the revenue generated.
Therefore, the various other services being a part of Apple’s video platform (such as HBO, Starz, Showtime, and more) are expected to start at $9.99 per month.
The Cupertino tech major will also integrate its content into the platform (glimpses of the same will be shown at the event) which will be few. Prices for viewing Apple’s original content have not been revealed as of now.
In addition to this, Apple could introduce its gaming platform wherein iPhone and iPad users will be able to access tons of paid games by paying a monthly subscription fee.
However, just as a reminder, as there is nothing concrete backing the aforementioned, we can’t rely on it entirely. For a better idea, we need to wait until today’s event.
