Take-Two Interactive, the makers of the popular game “Grand Theft Auto V” has won a lawsuit which claimed that a gamer created a cheat software that damaged the game’s reputation and caused a major loss in revenue.
Jhonny Perez, a resident of Florida has been accused of creating a cheat software called Elusive that allowed players to generate infinite in-game currency and introduce new features and elements. He sold the software online for as low as $10.
Some cheats included in the bogus software allows players to modify aesthetics of the game while others allowed online players to emulate an unfair environment in the game.
A judgment passed by the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York has ordered Perez to pay $150,000 to the makers of the game for creating the cheat software.
The complaint lodged by game creators states, “Mr. Perez’s Elusive program creates new features and elements in ‘Grand Theft Auto’ which can be used to harm legitimate players, causing Take-Two to lose control over its carefully balanced plan for how its video game is designed to be played.”
Grand Theft Auto V is a popular game that sold more than 100 million copies all over the world since it was released in 2013.
