Google’s Chrome 74 beta is out for Windows, and it will lead to the introduction of Dark Mode on Windows devices.
Dark mode on Windows can be enabled by heading to the Settings menu and will be switched on automatically if the user has opted for a system-wide dark mode option.
Additionally, the mode will be disabled once the user has chosen the light theme.
To recall, Google Chrome 73 led to Dark Mode being added to macOS.
In addition to this, Chrome 74 will bring in a media query, “prefer-reduced-motion” which will provide lesser motions (such as flashing ads, fancy parallax effects, surprising reveal animations, auto-playing videos, and more) on display for users prone to motion sickness.
Selecting this option will bring forth a motion-less variant of a particular website.
For those who don’t know, other operating systems such as Android and macOS already come with the option for users to reduce motions.
Furthermore, Chrome 74 will prevent downloads in sandbox iframes.
Google Chrome 74 beta has now started rolling out, and its stable version for all users is expected to arrive on April 23, 2019.
