When we talk about any open source operating system, most of the times it’s based on Linux or BSD. It rarely happens that there’s a new operating system kernel is being developed as it requires tons of work.
This is where Fuchsia comes in. It is Google’s upcoming operating system with a new kernel (Magenta) that’s being developed at a fast pace and we often keep coming across different development news related to it. The latest report has further hinted that Fuchsia OS will support Android apps.
Given the sheer number of Android developers around and its vast ecosystem, this revelation didn’t surprise me as it was just a matter of time.
As spotted by 9to5Google, Google has a new change in Android’s Gerrit source code.
It says that Fuchsia will use a specially designed Android Runtime (ART) version to run Android apps. It also seems that this ART version will be installable on any Fuchsia device with the help of a .far file (consider it Fuchsia’s APK file).
While any further information on Fuchsia and Android integration isn’t available, it would be safe to assume that Google intends to launch Fuchsia OS in the future in such a manner that it doesn’t suffer the fate of Windows Mobile.
