HP And Acer Launch First Chromebooks With AMD Chipset And More #CES2019

Consumer Electronics Show or CES 2019 has kicked off in Las Vegas, with HP and Acer launching new laptops.

The companies have launched its new Chromebooks, touted to be the World’s first to come with AMD processors.

HP Chromebook 14:

The new laptop comes with a 14-inch HD SVA WLED backlit display and comes in two processor variants: AMD Dual-core A4 with Radeon R4 GPU and AMD Dual-core A6 with Radeon R5 GPU.

The Chromebook 14 has 4GB of RAM and 32GB eMMC internal storage which supports 100GB of Google cloud storage. Additionally, it comes with access to the Google Play Store.

The device has a battery life of up to 9 hours, dual speakers, and comes with a price tag of $269. The HP Chromebook 14 will be available later in January 2019.

Chromebook x360 14 G1

Additionally, HP has introduced another Chromebook, dubbed the Chromebook x360 14 G1 which is powered by Intel 8th Generation Pentium processors, coming in three variants: Intel i3, Intel, i5, and Intel i7.


With a screen size of 14-inch and a screen resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels, the laptop has a full 360-degree hinge. It comes with 16GB of RAM, and two ROM variants: 32GB and 64GB.

The HP Chromebook x360 14 G1 has a battery backup of up to 13 hours. However, price and availability are not known yet.

Acer Chromebook 315

The new Acer Chromebook also claims to be the world’s first laptop powered by AMD processor.

It features a 15.6-inch Full HD IPS display and comes in two processor versions: AMD A4-9120C APU and AMD A6-9220C APU. It comes with up to 8GB of RAM and 32GB of eMMC storage.


The Chromebook 315 has a battery life of up to 10 hours and runs Chrome OS. Furthermore, it comes with the new Family Link app for parents to set rules for children to control laptop usage.

The Acer Chromebook 315 comes in touch-screen and non-touch-screen options and will start at $280 in North America, starting February and at Euros 349 in EMEA, starting April.

Acer Swift 7

Furthermore, Acer has launched the all-new Swift 7 laptop with a 14-inch Full HD IPS Touch display featuring ultra-narrow bezels and a screen-to-body ratio of 92%.


It is powered by 8th Gen Intel Core i7-8500Y processor and has two RAM/ROM options: 8GB RAM/256GB ROM and 16GB ROM/512GB ROM. Additionally, it has a battery backup of up to 10 hours and a push-to-open camera.

The Acer Swift 7 starts at $1,699 in North America, starting May and Euros 1,799 in EMEA, starting April.
