It’s Official! Netflix ‘Cancels’ Jessica Jones And The Punisher

Netflix has announced it is canceling Jessica Jones and The Punisher — the only remaining Marvel owned series on the video streaming platform.

By canceling the two superhero series, Netflix has indicated the end of the five-year licensing partnership with the American comic book publisher.

The Punisher has been axed after its second season, and Jessica Jones will end after its upcoming third season. Previously, Netflix also axed other Marvel series including Iron Fist, Daredevil, and Luke Cage.

Speaking to The Verge, a Netflix spokesperson said, “Marvel’s The Punisher will not return for a third season on Netflix. In addition, in reviewing our Marvel programming, we have decided that the upcoming third season will also be the final season for Marvel’s Jessica Jones.”

For those who are following Marvel series on Netflix, this comes as no surprise as it is not the first time when the streaming company has ended Marvel shows.

For the fans, Jeph Loeb, Marvel TV executive issued a statement saying that there is more to come despite the shows being canceled by Netflix.

He said, “Our Network partner may have decided they no longer want to continue telling the tales of these great characters… but you know Marvel better than that. As Matthew Murdock’s Dad once said, “The measure of a man is not how he gets knocked to the mat, it’s how he gets back up.”
