Amazon and Blue Origin owner Jeff Bezos has unveiled a lunar lander, known as Blue Moon, at a press event held at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, DC.
The new lunar lander aims to carry people and equipment to the moon by the year 2024. Blue Moon is capable of delivering all sorts of payloads on the moon’s surface.
Blue Moon (which has been under development for three years) comes with a couple of features; it can supply kilowatts of power to payloads with the help of fuel cells and its guidance and descent sensors, which use machine learning to easily land the machine on the surface of the moon.

Jeff Bezos aims to create a number of space colonies, which will be close to the Earth in order to accommodate as many humans there as possible.
Bezos’s new space venture plans to take forward NASA’s aim (set by Donald Trump) to send astronauts to the moon by 2024. Bezos said, “It’s time to go back to the moon, this time to stay.”
Additionally, Blue Origin is working on a new engine called the BE-7 with a capacity of 10,000 Ibf thrust. The new engine will be present in Blue Moon.
It is further suggested by Bezos that the moon is a better place to conduct the manufacturing process as it will use 24 times less energy than Earth.
As a reminder, Blue Origin is not the only private venture trying to make space tourism an easy-to-happen thing; Musk’s SpaceX and Richard Branson’s Virgin Galactic are also working on the road to space.
