Jony Ive: The Man Who Designs iPhones Quits Apple After 30 Years

The one person behind the design of Apple products iPhone fanatics love — Jony Ive — is leaving Apple after serving the Cupertino tech major for around three decades.

The famous Apple designer will depart from Apple later this year and will head on to start his own company called LoveFrom. Interestingly, the new Jony Ive company will have Apple as one of its primary clients.

Apparently, Ive said in an interview that the name of his company is inspired by a Steve Jobs’ quote on making products with love and care for people you’ll never meet.

For those who don’t know, Jony Ive is the mind behind the designs of many Apple products such as the iMacs, the iPhones, the iPods, and even the Apple Park, which finally took shape after almost 15 years. The revolutionary iMac we saw back in 1998 and the premium iPhones we have right now, all have a touch of Ive’s hands.

Apple, via an official statement, has suggested that Jony Ive will continue to work with Apple on a couple of projects, despite focussing on his own company.

Apart from bringing forth the iPhone designs we have all adored, Ive has also done voice-overs during the many Apple product launches. Not to mention, he has inspired countless number of Johny Ive Ad parodies that exist on YouTube.

Commenting on his exit from Apple, Jony Ive said, “After nearly 30 years and countless projects, I am most proud of the lasting work we have done to create a design team, process and culture at Apple that is without peer. Today it is stronger, more vibrant and more talented than at any point in Apple’s history.”

Following Ive’s departure, the design team leaders Evans Hankey and Alan Dye will directly report to Apple COO Jeff Williams. In addition to this, Apple has appointed Sabih Khan as the senior vice president of Operations, who will look after Apple’s worldwide supply chain.
