Microsoft Azure’s CTO Is Running Windows 10 ARM On Lumia 950 XL

When Microsoft shelved its plans for Windows-based smartphones, it shattered the dreams of many people. Microsoft is not to blame here as it is difficult to thrive amongst Android and iOS.

A group of developers recently rekindled the dream by running full Windows 10 on ARM on Lumia 950 XL. The project has seen steady developments as Gustave Monce, one of the developers leading the project, announced recently that GPS now works on Lumia 950 XL with Windows 10 on ARM.

Now, Mark Russinovich, CTO of Microsoft Azure, took to Twitter to post images of Microsoft Lumia 950XL running on Windows ARM.

Russinovich is a popular name amongst Windows users as he is the father of Sysinternals — a suite of highly useful tools for Windows operating system.

In his tweet, Mark said that he’ll soon release ARM64 versions of Sysinternals tools not only for Lumia 950 XL but for laptops running Windows 10 on ARM.

Developers who are working on the Lumia 950 project can benefit from these official set of drivers.

Also, the fact that Mark Russinovich is using Lumia 950 XL running WoA indicates that Microsoft has not completely abandoned Windows-based smartphones.

Do you want Microsoft to launch a Windows phone or at least provide support for dual-booting Windows on Android?
