Nubia Alpha Smartwatch Puts A Foldable Phone & Camera On Your Wrist

At the ongoing MWC 2019 tech event in Barcelona, Nubia has also shown its presence and launched a smartwatch with a twist (literally!).

Among the various foldable smartphones showcased, the Nubia Alpha is a smartwatch with a foldable display (spanning 4-inch), that works like a foldable smartphone. The screen is based on an OLED display panel made by Visionox.

Another highlight is the built-in 5MP camera which allows users to take pictures and videos via the smartwatch.

The smartwatch has 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage, is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2100 processor, and is backed by a 500mAh battery.

Running the company’s proprietary operating system, the Nubia Alpha comes with support for Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and eSIM to conduct calls.

The smartwatch, with a slap bracelet design, can also record heart rate, sleep, and various other physical activities, and is water resistant.

The Nubia Alpha smartwatch comes in black and gold color options and is expected to get more variants soon.

The Nubia Alpha is priced at Euros 499 (Bluetooth-only variant) and Euros 549 (eSIM variant) and will be available in North America and Europe in April.

While the new smartwatch is planned to improve the capabilities of a smartwatch and become an innovation, we are not too sure if it is drool-worthy enough to catch eyeballs.
