OnePlus 7 And OnePlus 7 Pro: Here’s Everything We Know So Far

OnePlus, since its entry into the smartphone market five years ago, has become everyone’s favorite and it’s safe to say that the company is eligible enough to be on our list of much-loved tech companies. This year too isn’t different, and everyone who keeps a close eye on the smartphone world (even the ones who don’t) is looking forward to the launch of the new OnePlus 7 series smartphone(s) with excitement.

OnePlus had followed a simple pattern for its smartphones; it launched two smartphones, one in the first half of the year and the second in the second half. However, this time the strategy is changing; the Chinese company is set to unveil two new OnePlus smartphones (OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro) simultaneously.

While OnePlus hasn’t spilled the beans on the details of the upcoming OnePlus flagships, we do have OnePlus 7 rumors and leaks and a couple of official information from the company, which has fueled much enthusiasm in us.

Therefore, I am presenting to you a OnePlus 7 rumor round-up so that you are no more confused! But before that, I would like to tell you about the confirmed OnePlus 7 launch date which is no longer a rumor.

OnePlus 7 Release Date

The OnePlus 7 release date is May 14, which is, Tuesday in India, the US, and Europe. In India, the OnePlus 7 series will launch at an event in Bengaluru at Bengaluru International Exhibition Centre to be exact.

Now let’s begin with all the OnePlus 7 rumors and leaks so far:

OnePlus 7 Rumor Roundup

What are we likely to see at the event?

As mentioned previously, OnePlus has officially confirmed that it will bring two smartphones to the stage, called the OnePlus 7 and the OnePlus 7 Pro. Hence, we have two smartphones to look out for. However, rumor also has it that the older sibling out of the two (OnePls 7 Pro) will also get a variant coming with support for 5G, becoming the first 5G OnePlus smartphone.

USP Of The New Flagships

Now that we know OnePlus will be serving two devices on our plates, we should also note that the devices will come stacked with a couple of highlighting features for us to love the smartphones even more.

The OnePlus 7 Pro is expected to change its design a bit and support an edge-to-edge display, further reducing the amount of bezels as compared to its predecessor. However, the OnePlus 7 phone could feature bezels much like the OnePlus 6T.

While the new OnePlus phones will retain the in-display fingerprint scanner from the OnePlus 6T, the cameras are going to see a massive leap of change which I will discuss in the camera section.

With the new series touted to be performance-centric (it has been advertised as a lag-free, bloatware-free smartphone with the tagline ‘Go Beyond Speed’), OnePlus is also expected to work on the battery and further improve its fast charging tech, which never fails to disappoint.

OnePlus 7 Series’ Display

The OnePlus 7 and the OnePlus 7 Pro display is expected to feature 6.5-inch and 6.67-inch screen sizes, respectively, which are more than any of the previous OnePlus models.

While sticking to a Super AMOLED display, the OnePlus 7 Pro is likely to bend towards the curved ones with a refresh rate configured at 90Hz (mostly found in gaming smartphones), expected to make its usage better than ever.

The OnePlus 7 is expected to feature a water-drop notched display based on the AMOLED display panel. The purported OnePlus 7 Pro 5G is also slated to launch alongside. However, we still don’t know much about it.

OnePlus 7 Camera Capabilities

Ever since the OnePlus 5 was introduced, we have all seen the same camera configuration since then, and as a reality check, we are bored. And it appears OnePlus has finally heard our prayers and the new OnePlus smartphones will come with newness.

OnePlus is banking high on the OnePlus 7 Pro’s camera department and we have several possible attractions in the department. The rear cameras will most likely be three in number; one of them being a 48MP snapper using pixel binning process, another with an 8MP telephoto lens, and the third one could be a 16MP wide-angle lens. The front camera will be another USP, being a 16MP pop-up snapper and contributing to lesser bezels.

In addition to this, the smartphone will most likely feature a 3x zoom in competition with the Huawei P30 Pro‘s 5x zoom, coming with improved low-light photography and better HDR, as hinted by the newly-leaked OnePlus 7 Pro camera samples.

However, we still don’t know if the camera configuration will remain the same for the younger sibling as well, or if the OnePlus 7 will sport slightly lowered-down camera specs.

OnePlus 7 Specifications

As the forthcoming OnePlus 7 series is being portrayed as a performance-packed “smooth and fast” device for us (the Geekbench scores also support it), the OnePlus 7 and the OnePlus 7 Pro are bound to come up with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 mobile platform.

As usual, the devices are highly speculated to come in multiple RAM/ROM versions: 6GB/128GB, 8GB/256GB, and the mammoth-sized 12GB/256GB. But I am expecting the OnePlus 7 Pro to arrive with a whopping 12GB of RAM option given its the elder sibling.

In terms of battery capacity, OnePlus is also expected to increase it. The OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro will arrive with a 4,150mAh and a 4,000mAh battery each with support for 30W Warp fast charging. The enhanced fast charging is expected to provide a day’s charge to the device in less than half an hour.

Furthermore, the devices will run Android 9.0 Pie with OnePlus’ own OxygenOS on top.

Furthermore, the OnePlus 7 Pro is expected to feature an improved vibration motor for improved notifications.

OnePlus 7 Price and Colors

The price section is the most-anticipated one and attracts more people than the spec sheet does. Much like the new features for the OnePlus 7 series, the price is also expected to be a new thing for the company as the OnePlus 7 Pro might fall into a slightly premium range, becoming the first most expensive OnePlus phone.

The OnePlus 7 Pro is likely to be priced at €699 (6GB/128GB) €749 (8GB/256GB) and €819 (12GB/256GB).

The OnePlus 7 is most likely to come with a price tag similar to the OnePlus 6T, and hopefully without disappointing many of the OnePlus fans.

Additionally, the OnePlus 7 series could come in Almond, Mirror Grey, and Nebula Blue color variants.

As a disclaimer, most of the details above are currently rumors, and we will have to wait until the May 14 event to find out exactly how the new OnePlus 7 series turns out to be.
