Porsche Taycan Electric Does 0-124 Mph Over 30 Times On Test Track

Porsche Taycan is the upcoming electric car from the German automaker and is ready to take on the might of Tesla. So right out of the bat, the main features of the car include a 320-mile range, two electric motors 200 HP at the front, and a 400 HP one at the back along with 150 kWh charging (0-80% charge in 40 minutes).

EV expert Jonny Smith came out fairly impressed with Porsche Taycan’s performance

However, the most unique aspect of the Porche Taycan Electric is its ability to deliver power consistently despite the battery range. Tesla electric cars tend to get a bit slower when the battery goes down but the Porsche Taycan is immune to this problem of electric cars.

The first-ever review of the Porsche Taycan electric car is out and it’s got a lot of interesting information that almost every electric car enthusiast was waiting to hear.

The Porsche Taycan was tested by former Fifth Gear host and famous auto journalist Jonny Smith. His new YouTube channel, “Fully Charged,” is all about electric vehicles that cover news on all the latest EVs including the Honda e, Rivian semi-truck, etc.

Porsche Taycan Electric Specs, Expected Price And Variants Revealed

Porsche Taycan Electric was tested by Jonny on an airfield in Canada on a sunny day — yeah you can envy his job. The electric car is capable of doing 0-60 miles per hour in under 3.5 seconds. Keep in mind that these are the official figures given by the Porsche but during the actual test, Jonny confirmed that the 0-60 could be way less than 3.5 seconds.

The Porsche Taycan did almost 30 sprints of 0-124 mph and at the end of the day, there was enough juice in the batteries to be able to drive the car a little more. Jonny also asked the Porsche executives whether there would be a rear-wheel-drive variant of the Porsche Taycan electric in the future. The executive answered by saying that they’re exploring all types of possibilities in the future.

Porsche Taycan does 0-60 mph All Day without any loss in performance

According to Jonny, the Porsche Taycan electric car would be priced at an initial price of $120,000 for the top-end version. The price is expected to come in as low as $65,000, for an expected 300 HP single motor variant of Porsche Taycan.

The Porsche Taycan will launch in early 2020 and more than 20,000 have already booked the electric car.

We’ve recently informed you about how the Porsche Taycan will launch with a 350 kWh charge but it will come with a maximum charging capability of 250 kWh.

Lotus, another automaker, is also planning to launch an electric car with a 350 kWh charging capability that will completely fill its battery in 18 minutes. The car will eventually get an 800 kWh charging capability in the future that will further reduce the charging time to just 9 minutes.

Porsche Taycan Vs Tesla Model S (P100D)

The biggest rival of the Porsche Taycan is the Tesla Model S. It is priced quite lower than the Porsche and offers similar specs in terms of battery range. Both of them have an air-suspension setup as well.

The specs of the Porsche Taycan and Tesla Model S are as follows:

Porsche Taycan Tesla Model S
Price $120,000 expected $90,115
Battery Range 320 miles per full charge 345 miles per full charge
0-60 mph time 3.5 2.4
Battery Capacity 90 kWh 100 kWh

The Tesla Model S offers more range but the Porsche Taycan offers consistent performance. Ultimately, the arrival of Porsche Taycan will bring much-needed diversity to the premium electric car crowd.
