Realme X vs Redmi X: Battle Of The Upcoming Budget Flagships

Xiaomi and Realme were recently against each other in a face-off — the Redmi Note 7 Pro vs the Realme 3 Pro and that’s when we knew the silent (or not) battle between the two companies has officially begun. Now, it seems like the competition has not ended and is still on as both companies are now expected to introduce their own new smartphones soon.

Realme and Xiaomi are set to unveil their new devices called the Realme X and the Redmi X (or POCO F2), respectively in China, that too around the same time this month.

So, as both smartphones have started making headlines and featuring in the rumor mill, I thought of putting the Realme X vs the Redmi X, in terms of most of the rumors, and try to predict as to which smartphone could take the lead once launched.

Before that, I recently compared the Redmi Note 7 Pro and the Realme 3 Pro based on some features, and you may have a look if you are planning to buy any of the two budget smartphones.

Realme X and Redmi X Launch Date and Real Name

The Realme X and the Redmi X will hit the stage on May 15 and May 14, respectively in China. While Realme has confirmed that its upcoming smartphone will be named the Realme X, the Redmi X is not the confirmed epithet for the forthcoming Redmi device and could instead be called either the Redmi K20 Pro (marking a new series) or the POCO F2 (for other markets such as India).

Furthermore, while Realme X could have a lowered-down variant (Realme X Lite), there is no word on any Redmi X variant.

Realme X and Redmi X Attractions

The Realme X and the purported Redmi X will carry a few highlights to make smartphones worth waiting for. The first USP is expected to be the most trending thing in the mobile world, and that is, the pop-up front camera (by the way, don’t forget to check out the pop-up camera smartphone listicle).

Realme X

The Realme X could have a 25MP elevating selfie snapper while the Redmi X is likely to sport a 32MP retracting one.

Due to the presence of a pop-up camera, both smartphones are accustomed to getting a full-screen display with almost negligible bezels and without a notch, and this makes the second highlight of the smartphone. The displays on the Realme X and the Redmi X could span 6.5-inch and 6.3-inch, both being Full HD+ in nature.

Redmi X

The camera department in totality is an attraction in both smartphones. Not only do the Realme and Redmi devices house a pop-up selfie camera, but they also comprise a 48MP rear snapper that makes both smartphones tough contenders for all the camera-centric devices out there, especially those boasting 48MP camera output.

Another USP of the Realme X and the Redmi X is the presence of an in-display fingerprint scanner which is also an element that companies are incorporating in smartphones.

Realme X vs Redmi X: Spec Sheet Comparison

While we still lack concrete details on what the two devices will be like, we do have a handful of specifications that give us an idea.

Which Smartphone Could Leave A Mark?

If I go by all the rumored specs and features I talked by in this Realme X vs Redmi X comparison, my vote goes to the Redmi smartphone. It is expected to sport a high-end Snapdragon 855 mobile platform, a triple-camera module at the back, an in-display fingerprint scanner, a pop-up selfie snapper — all stuffed to make a device we need to look out for.

My bets are high on the Redmi device; however, I am looking forward to the Realme one too. To remind you, concrete information is scarce, and we will have to wait until the official launches.

Therefore, stay tuned until May 14 and 15 for a better idea.
