Telecom operator Reliance Jio is now expected to bring its 5G mobile phones to India soon after taking the 4G world by storm.
It is suggested that Reliance Jio could launch its 5G mobile phones along with 5G in India by April 2020 with the aim of making the 5G network available to all in the country.
The Mukesh Ambani-owned company is expected to begin testing its 5G devices after the Spectrum auction this year, with testing likely to end by April next year.
While details regarding the Jio 5G phones have not been disclosed, the 5G phones are expected to fall into the affordable segment, much like the existing Jio mobile phones.
Jio will be standing in the ring against various smartphone makers such as Samsung, LG, Huawei, OPPO, Vivo, and others who are also striving to launch their respective 5G smartphones soon — most likely during the upcoming MWC 2019 tradeshow.
The 5G devices by Jio could give fierce competition to smartphone makers, given the expected affordable pricing of the former.
Once Reliance Jio makes its 5G phone official, it will be interesting to see how it affects the mobile world and moves ahead in the 5G race.
