Sex Toy Wins Award At CES But Taken Back Deeming It Immoral

CES or the Consumer Electronics Show is arguably the biggest tech tradeshow ever. Every year witnesses the launch of innovative tech, and this year too, one piece of tech was supposed to debut at the event but did not.

Lora DiCarlo (a company owned by Lora Haddock) was awarded the CES 2019 Innovation Awards in the Robotics and Drones section for the Ose personal massager.

However, before it could showcase the product at the tradeshow, the CES organizers took away the award, suggesting the product was immoral.

Consumer Technology Association or CTA (the organizer behind CES) cited, “Entries deemed by CTA in their sole discretion to be immoral, obscene, indecent, profane or not in keeping with CTA’s image will be disqualified.”

Eventually, the organizers implied that the product wasn’t eligible to fall in the Robotics and Drones category which raised serious questions on how the World’s biggest tradeshow works.

Lora Haddock stated, “If we didn’t fit their policy, how in the world did our application even get past the first round of vetting by CTA staff, let alone receive high marks across the board from their expert judges?”

For those who don’t know, Ose is based on micro-robotic technology, copying human mouth, fingers and tongue, for women to attain a complete blended orgasm, without the use of hands.

Additionally, it is suggested that CES sees the launch of various other sex toys (from OhMiBod), VR porn, and even a sex robot which completely contradicts the excuse given out by CTA for the disqualification of the sex toy.

The reason suggested for this could be sexism as the company is founded and led primarily by women.

Furthermore, the presence of women at the tradeshow is relatively less, be it female-focussed products or female presenters.

If CES is endorsing gender bias and misogyny, it needs to change the way it operates!
