Sky News Arabia’s Twitter and Facebook accounts Hacked by Syrian Electronic Army

Sky News Arabia’s social media platforms were hacked last night by by famous a group famously known as the Syrian Electronic Army.

The hack that was announce by the hackers on their official forum shows that the Syrian Electronic Army took over two of Sky News Arabia’s Twitter accounts and a Facebook page. The Twitter accounts goes with the handles of @skynewsarabia, and @skynewsarabia_c used for cultural and entertainment news and the Facebook page facebook/skynewsarabia.

The officials at Sky News Arabia told the media that:

“Sky News Arabia has regained control of the hacked accounts and is taking precautionary measures to ensure all its IT systems are secure. “It is anticipated this process will be completed later today, at which time the channel’s social media accounts will be reactivated.”

The hackers who were claimed to be a part of Syrian electronic Army is a strong support of Syrian President Bashar Ul Assad known for their hacks against Al-Jazeera, Israeli news site Haaretz and others.

Sky News Arabia is an Arabic news and current affairs channel broadcast mainly in the Middle East and North Africa. It is a joint venture between UK-based BSkyB and Abu Dhabi Media Investment Corporation (ADMIC)

At the time of publishing this article, all of the social media pages of Sky News Arabia were restored and back in the control of news channel.
