Someone is hacking traffic signs in US and replacing them with their own messages

Someone is hacking electronic sign boards in Texas and leaving messages in support of Bernie Sanders and Barrett Brown — While some messages are against Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton!

For hacktivists the most important part of the cyber attack is to deliver the message to the masses, usually they take over websites and leave deface pages with messages based on their ideology or cause but there are some who take things to a new level and that’s exactly what’s happening in the United States where someone is hacking into traffic signs with messages for bypassers.

According to reports from Fox News, unknown hackers have been defacing Texas Department Of Transportation (TXDOT) electronic message boards lately. Although it is unclear how they are doing it, the messages are in support of political figures like Bernie Sanders, Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump while some are in support of Barrett Brown, an imprisoned US journalist and alleged unofficial spokesperson for Anonymous. However, some messages just don’t make sense so one may be put up there just for fun.

This happened on 5th June 2016 in Dallas where a board was defaced with “Gorilla deserved it” message referring to the incident in which Zookeepers shot and killed a rare gorilla after a 3-year-old boy slipped into its enclosure at the Cincinnati Zoo.

This is not the first time when hackers have chosen traffic signs and electronic sign boards to deliver their message. In recent years, there have been an increase in such incidents. In December 2015, a Donald Trump supporter left “Vote Donald Trump” message on a freeway sign in Corona city California.
