After several rumors, Sony has unveiled a couple of smartphones at the ongoing Mobile World Congress 2019 in Barcelona.
All the smartphones launched come with an unusual aspect ratio rated at 21:9 as their main highlight, except for the entry-level Xperia L3. Here is what Sony served on our plates:
Sony Xperia 1
A new member of the rebranded Xperia XA series, the Xperia 1 comes with a 6.5-inch OLED display with an aspect ratio of 21:9 and a screen resolution rated at 3,840×1,644 pixels.
Another highlight is the three-camera setup at the back, rated at 12MP each, with LED flash, OIS, and autofocus.
The Xperia 1 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor, coupled with 6GB of RAM. There is a 3,300mAh battery, 128GB of internal storage, and Android 9.0 Pie OS for the smartphone.
Additionally, the device supports fingerprint scanning, IP68 certification, and the Side Sense feature — a user-friendly UI by Sony that uses AI to provide easy and convenient access to frequently used apps in an intuitive new way.
The Xperia 1 comes in Purple and Black colors and will be available in Spring 2019. However, there is no word on the pricing details at the time of writing.
Sony Xperia 10 and 10 Plus
The Xperia 10 and the Xperia 10 Plus fall in the mid-segment and come with a 6-inch and 6.5-inch display, respectively. Both smartphones support Full HD+ screen resolution and an aspect ratio standing at 21:9.
As for the cameras, the Xperia 10 and the Xperia 10 Plus have a dual-camera setup, configured at 13MP+5MP and 12MP+8MP, respectively. Both devices come with camera features such as SteadyShot, LDAC, and Bokeh effect.
While the Xperia 10 is powered by a Snapdragon 630 processor and has a 2,870mAh battery, the Xperia 10 Plus has a Snapdragon 636 chipset and a bigger 3,000mAh battery.
Both the Xperia 10 and the Xperia 10 Plus will be up for grabs, starting today. However, we lack the price details.
Sony Xperia L3
The Xperia L3 is an affordable smartphone, coming with a 5.7-inch LCD display with an aspect ratio rated at 18:9. Powered by the octa-core MediaTek P22, the smartphone has 3GB of RAM with two ROM options: 32GB and 64GB.
The device has dual rear cameras (13MP and 2MP) and an 8MP front camera. It is backed by a 3,300mAh battery and sadly runs Android 8.0 Oreo.
There is no word on the price and availability details yet.
