TCL’s First Foldable Phone Can Bend Into A Smartwatch

The era of foldable smartphones has arrived but innovation doesn’t stop here. BlackBerry and Alcatel brand owner, TCL, is working on a foldable smartphone that can be bent to form a smartwatch.

TCL is known for making budget TVs and is actually one of the biggest TV manufacturers. According to CNET, TCL is working on as many as five different models of foldable devices, one of which is a phone that could slap-bracelet itself into a smartwatch.

While the details on the TCL’s device isn’t available currently and the rendered image is the only proof that has surfaced.

There is also an image from a patent filing which describes how the bracelet-watch would work, but the most important question is whether the phone would automatically fold around if you slap it on your wrist.

We will have to wait a little longer to find out more concrete details about the phone, but we expect TCL to reveal more at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona next week.

However, the idea itself isn’t exactly as Lenovo showcased a similar prototype for a bracelet-watch back in 2016. Here is the video of the same:
