OnePlus, about two weeks ago, unveiled the new OnePlus 7T, and we are still getting used to it (I mean, it just got launched). Now, we have the first look of the company’s upcoming flagship — allegedly called the OnePlus 8 — trying to tell us that we should not get too attached.
OnePlus 8 — Already?
As per a collaborative leak by CashKaro and popular leakster OnLeaks, the purported OnePlus 8 will adopt a new display design.
The OnePlus 8 display is likely to sport a punch-hole at the top left corner, bidding goodbye to the waterdrop notch. The 6.5-inch screen could be a curved one, much like the OnePlus 7 Pro.
As for the camera department, the OnePlus 8 is expected to feature three rear cameras, telling us that three is the current camera number for the company.
The cameras will be arranged vertically, akin to the camera module on the OnePlus 7 Pro. So those who didn’t like the round camera module that much, here’s some hope.
Aesthetic-wise, the rumored OnePlus 8 could feature the speaker grille, the USB Type-C port, and the SIM tray at its bottom part. The top part of the device won’t have anything.
The left side of the smartphone is likely to have a volume rocker, and the right side could feature the alert slider and the power on/off button.
Alleged OnePlus 8 Specs
As the device is still in its initial stage, we don’t have much information on the technical specifics of the OnePlus 8. The smartphone could come with either the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus or the Snapdragon 865 processor, depending upon the latter’s launch.
The OnePlus 8 is likely to feature wireless charging and going by the leaked renders; the smartphone is most likely to sport an in-display fingerprint scanner. Additionally, the device is expected to come with Android 10 based on OxygenOS.
OnePlus 8 — My Take
The OnePlus 8 is more or less like the OnePlus 7 Pro, except for the punch-hole display. As I don’t have a problem with punch-hole displays, the one on OnePlus 8 is not a problem.
However, with the 2020 OnePlus smartphone, my (or anybody else’s) expectations are expected to be high, and with not much refreshment, I am not sure whether I would like the device.
Nonetheless, we still have a lot of time before the OnePlus 8 gets official. Hence, we can’t rely on the leaks and rumors coming our way and we’d have to wait for something official to back it.
