YouTube Disables Comments On Videos Featuring Children

Following a controversy that involved derogatory and predatory comments being posted under videos featuring children, YouTube has decided to ban comments on almost all the videos that have children.

Comments will be temporarily turned off for the videos with children in them to silence the pedophiles who are causing a menace on the platform. Comments will be allowed only on selected channels, and such channels will be required to keep a check on the comments to ensure the safety of children.

Announcing its decision in a blog post, YouTube said: “Over the next few months, we will be broadening this action to suspend comments on videos featuring young minors and videos featuring older minors that could be at risk of attracting predatory behavior.”

To further enhance safety, YouTube has said that it has deployed an advanced algorithm that will help it in removing predatory comments. The classifier will detect and remove twice as many rapacious comments. YouTube also said that its efforts would not impact content creators’ monetization programs.

Earlier, many companies like Disney, Nestle, Epic Games, and AT&T removed their ads from YouTube as it was found that the ads were playing on videos that had such demeaning comments.
