Raspberry Pi Sells 10 Million Computers, Releases New Starter Kit

Short Bytes:
Raspberry Pi Foundation has announced that they have sold 10,000,000 Raspberry Pi single board computers since the first model was launched in 2012. An official Raspberry Pi Starter Kit has also been announced, which can be purchased online via authorized partners.

Founded in 2009, a UK-based charity came up with their first single board computer in February 2012.

“When we started Raspberry Pi, we had a simple goal: to increase the number of people applying to study Computer Science at Cambridge,” writes Eben Upton, Raspberry Pi Foundation co-founder, and technical director at Broadcom. He is the man behind the software and hardware design of Raspberry Pi board.

The credit card-sized computer creator Raspberry Pi Foundation, which initially thought their “lifetime volumes might amount to ten thousand units”, has announced the sale of the 10 millionth Raspberry Pi board. “Thanks to you, we’ve beaten our wildest dreams by three orders of magnitude, and we’re only just getting started.”
