Xiaomi’s New Mi Notebook Air Costs Half The Price Of Apple MacBook Air

Xiaomi has launched its own version of MacBook Air named “Mi NoteBook Air 12.5” in China, and the device costs less than half the price of Apple MacBook.

Mi NoteBook Air features 12.5 inches 1080p display, and the company has seemingly imitated Apple MacBook in design by keeping minimum bezels. The Intel 7th Gen i5-7Y54 processor powers the NoteBook, and another variant is available with 7th Gen m3.

One of the biggest disappointments come in the form of 4GB RAM, which could be a deal-breaking factor for many users. When running Windows OS, 4GB RAM could only handle Google Chrome with a couple of opened tabs. Xiaomi has kept the same 256 GB SSD which is found in the previous edition.

In the form factor department, Mi Notebook 12.5 is just 12.9mm thick and weighs 1.07 Kg or 2.35 lbs. The Chinese company has said that the laptop offers 11.5 hours long battery life but has not mentioned the capacity of the battery fitted inside. Xiaomi has claimed that the Apple MacBook Air competitor can be charged to 50% in just 30 minutes as it supports 1C fast charging technology.

MI NoteBook Air has a USB-A port, a USB-C port, an HDMI port and a 3.5mm audio jack for input and output. Other notable features of the latest NoteBook from Xiaomi are a backlit keyboard, support for faster 5 GHz Wi-Fi, AKG speakers, and a scratch-resistant glass trackpad.

MI NoteBook Air 12.5″ is priced at CNY 3999 which is equivalent to $580. The portable laptop is available in gold and silver color. It has been launched only in China as of now, but Xiaomi India head has said that the company has plans to launch the laptop in India as well.
