Tesla Model 3 Performance vs Challenger Hellcat In 1/2 Mile Drag Race

In an unsurprising turn of events, a Tesla Model 3 Performance absolutely obliterated a tuned Dodge Challenger Hellcat, while setting a track record in the process. The video of the event was posted by YouTube Channel JR Garage, run by two brothers Jeff and Christian.

At the start of the video, we see that the Tesla Model 3 track record was set by a series of unexpected events. Jeff addresses his audience about the situation of his Ferrari, which he wanted to use instead of Tesla Model 3 Performance in the first place. He informed everyone that there was a problem with the Oxygen sensor in the Ferrari, therefore it wasn’t in race-ready form.

Then, he decided to go for his ultra-modded Lamborghini Gallardo but it too was missing a rear diffuser. The RSC carbon fiber diffuser on his Lamborghini Gallardo wasn’t working, so he decided to go for the next best thing, a Tesla Model 3 Performance.

The race day was being held at the ‘Wanna Go Fast AirStrip Event.’ At the event, Jeff also saw another Tesla Model 3 Performance variant beating ICE cars and even challenged the owner for a Tesla Vs Tesla showdown.

Tesla Model 3 Performance Vs Dodge Challenger HellCat Half-Mile Drag

As we can see in the video, the airstrip was filled with supercars. There was a Nissan R32 Skyline, a Supercharged Dodge Viper and several Porsche and Chargers.

In the crowd, Jeff spotted a white Tesla Model 3 Performance which went head to head with a stock Lamborghini Huracan. The Model 3 Performance easily crossed the line, first setting a record of 135.62 mph.

Later on, Jeff decided to go up against the white Tesla Model 3 Performance and beat it by setting a 1/2 mile world record of 136.52 mph in his Model 3. At the end of his first half-mile drag, he admitted that he messed up the launch a little bit but eventually caught up with the rival Model 3.

He also realized that his AC was on the entire time, so he decided to go for one more race, this time without any air conditioner and against a modified Dodge Challenger Hellcat.

The Dodge Challenger Hellcat, for reference, makes about 717 HP (527 kW) and 656 ft-lb or 889 nm of torque. This time it was “Tesla Model 3 Performance Vs Challenger Hellcat.”

Jeff was confident that he would easily leave the Challenger Hellcat in the dust and so he did. But this time he wasn’t able to clock in another record. He finished the line first at 136.36 mph, a few milliseconds slower than before.

At the end of the video, the brothers leave us with a nice message “You guys don’t have to buy a hellcat you can buy a Tesla and save the environment and still best a hellcat.”

Not His First Stint With A Model 3

Jeff had already set a quarter-mile drag racing record the previous year using his base Tesla Model 3, which Tesla retweeted and several magazines covered as well. This year he has managed to do it again and hopefully, Tesla will notice.

Speaking of the Tesla Model 3 Performance, so far all the reviews of this new variant have been overwhelmingly positive. People have tested their Model 3 performance against a 2020 Toyota Supra and some have even tried charging their Model 3 by towing it.

Needless to say, this video simply proves what has already been told several times, no one makes electric cars better than Tesla.
