Ubuntu 18.04.1 Released: Download The First Bionic Beaver Point Release Here

In case you were waiting for the first point release of Ubuntu 18.04 Bionic Beaver, it’s time to go ahead and grab that upgrade. In my own experience, many conservative Ubuntu Linux users tend to wait for the first point releases as they are more stable as compared to the initial ones.

This long-term Ubuntu 18.04.1 release has been shipped for all of the supported platforms, including Desktop, Cloud, and Server. The offerings for other flavors like Kubuntu, Ubuntu MATE, Lubuntu, Xubuntu, etc., have also been shipped.

Following the first one in April, this release contains obvious stability improvements, bug fixes, security updates, and some high impact bugs. You can find the whole set of changes between 18.04 and 18.04.1 here.

It goes without saying that the users who are already running 16.04 can perform the upgrade easily via Update Manager; they’ll also receive an upgrade notification. If you’re running an updated 18.04 system, you already have 18.04.1 running on your machine and you don’t have to do anything. It simply contains all the updates and bug fixes released to Ubuntu 18.04 to date.
