Ahead of Vivo Apex 2019’s official launch (scheduled for January 24) and after some leaks, Meizu has unveiled the world’s first-ever smartphone without any ports — the Meizu Zero in China.
The main USP of the Meizu Zero is that it lacks any physical ports and sports a one-piece ceramic unibody.
The new portless design is the result of the company’s own Wireless Wins Cable technology which supports 18W wireless super fast charging, cloud storage, and wireless connectivity.
Other highlights include the mEngine 2.0 tech for virtual buttons in place of physical one on the device, mSound 2.0 screen sound technology, and support for eSIM technology.
Technical Specifications
Taking a look at the tech specs, the Meizu Zero comes with a 5.99-inch ultra-clear full-screen AMOLED display based on OLED display panel. It comes with a layer of 2.5D curved glass.
The smartphone is powered by 7nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor, however, the RAM/ROM configuration remains unknown at the time of writing.
On the camera front, the device is home to a dual-camera setup at the back, rated at 12MP ( Sony IMX380 sensor) and 20MP (Sony IMX350 sensor) with support for the AI smart engine for enhancing AI camera features. The one at the front stands at 20MP.
While the battery capacity remains unknown, the Meizu Zero runs Android 8.1 Oreo with the Flyme 7 adaptive UI on top.
Furthermore, the device comes with an in-display fingerprint sensor, facial recognition feature, and IP68 certification for dust and water resistance.
The Meizu Zero will be available in bright porcelain black and kiln white color options.
However, there is no word on the pricing and availability details yet.

UPDATE: Meizu Zero is now listed on crowdfunding platform Indiegogo for $1,299, until March 1, 2019. The company will begin production for a small lot in April, followed by shipments of a limited number of units.
