Redmi Note 7 With 48MP Camera Announced In China

Xiaomi was recently rumored to make its Redmi series a standalone sub-brand for which we saw several leaks and rumors. Now, the first smartphone under the new sub-brand dubbed the Redmi Note 7 has been launched in China, marking the official entry of the sub-brand.

The USP of the new Redmi Note 7 (as rumored previously) is the 48-megapixel rear snapper with Sony IMX586 sensor. The camera sensor is accompanied by a secondary camera rated at 5-megapixel.

Both the rear cameras support PDAF, dual flash, Portrait mode, and AI-enabled features. The one at the front stands at 13-megapixel and also supports AI-based features, Portrait mode, and AI smart beauty feature.

The Redmi Note 7 spans 6.3-inch with a water drop notch, and an aspect ratio configured at 19:5:9 for really thin bezels. It is powered by octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 AIE processor with Adreno 512 GPU.

The smartphone comes in three RAM/ROM configurations: 3GB/32GB, 4GB/64GB, and 6GB/64GB, all the options being expandable up to 256GB via a memory card.

The device is backed by a 4,000mAh battery with Quick Charge 4.0 tech. But it still runs MIUI 9 based on Android 8.1 Oreo which is disappointing for a newly launched phone. Hopefully, Xiaomi will soon bring the latest software to Redmi Note 7 as well.

Moreover, the Redmi Note 7 comes with a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner and facial recognition. The Redmi Note 7 comes in Dream Blue, Shaguangjin, and Bright Black color variants.

The Redmi Note 7 is priced at CNY 999 (3GB/32GB), CNY 1,199 (4GB/64GB), and CNY 1,399 (6GB/64GB) and will be available for purchase starting January 15.
