Swiggy Launches ‘Stores’ To Deliver Groceries, Medicines And More

Food delivery service Swiggy has taken yet another step in its food venture and launched Swiggy Stores for the delivery of products from local stores in India.

Competing against the likes of Big Basket and Grofers, Swiggy Stores will allow users to buy groceries, dog food, flowers, toiletries, and much more from local retail stores (both offline and online) via the Swiggy app.

The feature is currently available only in Gurugram, Haryana in beta form only covering 3,500 local stores, and will eventually reach out to other places in the country.

The initial partners for Swiggy Stores are Le Marche, Guardian Pharmacy and Zappfresh.com, Ferns n Petals, and The Moms Co., with more to join soon.

Swiggy co-founder and CEO, Sriharsha Majety, via a blog post said, “Four years and hundreds of millions of orders later, we can confidently say we bring convenience to the doorstep of consumers across the country. Despite millions of Indians ordering food, we believe food delivery is still in its nascent stages. So, while we continued to build out more magical realities in the food ordering space, a lot of consumers, non-restaurant merchants and retailers were asking us when we would extend this superpower (convenience) to needs outside of food ordering.”

Additionally, Swiggy is open to feedback on further improvements and the addition of new features.
