Along with various tech companies diving into the 5G ocean, Lenovo-owned Motorola is also in line, but not really in the form of a smartphone.
Motorola will be providing 5G connectivity to users with the help of its 5G Moto Mod (announced alongside the Moto Z3 in November last year), which can be attached to the previous year’s Moto Z3 as well as the Moto Z2 series.
As announced during MWC 2019, the 5G Moto Mod has been approved by the FCC and will soon be available to buy, however, just for the Verizon customers.
With the 5G Moto Mod, users will get up to 10 times faster speeds and more responsive AR and VR content.
With an inbuilt 2,000mAh battery and a Qualcomm Snapdragon X50 5G modem, it supports the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor.
The 5G Moto Mod (with the Moto Z3) will be available exclusively via Verizon next year. However, there is no word on the pricing and availability yet.
To recall, the Moto Z3 comes with an edge-to-edge 6-inch Super AMOLED display and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor coupled with 4GB of RAM. It has 64GB of internal storage and a 3000mAh battery with TurboPower fast charging.
Additionally, the device has dual cameras at the back, rated at 12MP each and an 8MP front shooter, along with a side-mounted fingerprint sensor.
